MoneySTRONG Financial Coaching

Help Families Manage Their Finances

MoneySTRONG has volunteer opportunities available for financial coaching. If you have an interest in helping people and finance, we have a way for you to apply your passion and skills to help families in your community become more financially stable. Volunteer will work with families in the community.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and AARP Tax-Aide

Tax Preparer

A person who will be trained by the IRS, AARP Tax-Aide or Benefit Bank to learn limited tax law and prepare taxes via a computer-based program. This volunteer effort gives individuals a useful life skill and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of fellow citizens. Training will be 18-20 hours and will require passing an open-book IRS certification test plus working practice exercises.

Intake Specialist

This person greets taxpayers as they enter a free tax preparation site. Their tasks are to: greet taxpayers and sign them in, review taxpayers’ paperwork to make certain they have all necessary documents, and keep the waiting room running smoothly. This position is also responsible for administering assessment tools to help determine what additional financial related services taxpayers are interested in and how to access them. Training will be around 2.5 hours and volunteers will need to pass IRS certification test.

Reality Store

Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the event going to be held at Central Middle School and Northside Middle School. Volunteers will be stationed at various booths to interact with the students throughout the day.

FAFSA Help Sessions

Volunteers are needed at each session to help students in the Bartholomew County School Corporation prepare their FAFSA. Training will be provided prior to sessions.
